Task 5.1. Analyzing National Cultural Dimensions Through the Lens of Geert Hofstede’s 6-D Model (90 minutes) 

Aim: explore and analyze how cultural dimensions impact national behaviours, attitudes, and values using Geert Hofstede’s 6-D model. 

Learning outcomes: 

  • Students will be able to describe Geert Hofstede’s 6-D model and explain each of the six cultural dimensions (Power Distance, Individualism vs. Collectivism, Masculinity vs. Femininity, Uncertainty Avoidance, Long-term vs. Short-term Orientation, and Indulgence vs. Restraint). 

  • Students will apply Hofstede’s model to interpret and explain behaviors, values, and communication styles in specific cultural contexts.

Task 5.2: Analyzing Cultural Dimensions: A Comparative Reflection (90 minutes)

Aim: Identify and analyze cultural dimensions represented in the film by observing scenes that illustrate these dimensions. 

Learning outcomes: students will apply their understanding of cultural dimensions in a real-world context.
