Course Description:

INTRODUCTION OF THE FORTHEM GREEN UNIT

FORTHEM (Fostering Outreach within European Regions, Transnational Higher Education and Mobility)
is a network of nine multidisciplinary public research universities in Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania and Spain. Green Sustainability is one of the main focuses of the FORTHEM Alliance which moves towards a sustainable and green European university. For this purpose, a Green Sustainability Unit has been made up of Academic and Administrative experts from each partner University as a central contact point for activities and requests concerning environmental sustainability within the Alliance. One of the objectives of this unit is to elaborate a common Code of Conduct, which results from the review process of current practices and policy across partners University. Selected interns will have the opportunity to actively participate in this project, coordinated by an international team of experts.

OBJECTIVES OF THE INTERNSHIP:

• Research Skills
Interns will identify and evaluate environmentally sustainable transport options available across the nine FORTHEM partner countries through desk research and data collection.
• Data Analysis & Interpretation
They will analyze and compare the carbon footprint of green versus non-green travel routes versus virtual mobilities interpreting the environmental impact of different transport choices and attendance options.
• Mapping & Technical Skills
Interns will create a map of green travel routes connecting the partner universities, enhancing their skills in digital tools or mapping software.
• Time Management & Organization
Interns will plan and self-manage the collection and presentation of data within given deadlines, developing efficient organizational skills.
• Problem-Solving
They will address challenges in gathering accurate and up-to-date information on sustainable transport options and find solutions for effective dissemination to users.
• Continuous Learning & Adaptability
Interns will engage with emerging sustainability concepts and technologies related to green mobility, adapting to an international, multidisciplinary project environment.
